Road surface characteristics and measurement

26 March 2025 09:30-16:15, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
The asphalt industry is actively exploring and exploiting the opportunities for change and improvement offered by digitalisation and the associated advancements in the capture and use of data, from design, through construction, to operation and maintenance. Clear benefits include automation and/or remote operation of processes to eliminate or reduce exposure of workers and the public to risk during construction and maintenance operations. Digital control and automation also offer the potential for greater accuracy, consistency and efficiency in translating designs to the completed works. Change also brings challenges such as how to adjust to new practices and metrics, how to specify and what are the constraints that may present a barrier to investing in and/or deploying new technology.
This session has been put together to demonstrate some of the innovative applications of changing technology for constructing and maintaining highways with asphalt.

This event will be of interest to those working in highway authorities, civil and military airport authorities, road and railway engineering consultants, university civil engineering departments, construction materials testing laboratories, as well as materials suppliers and contractors, and road and airfield construction contractors and operators.
