Pegwell Bay Seal Walk

18 May 2024 12:30-14:30, Ramsgate, United Kingdom

Introduction
Pegwell Bay is complex mosaic of habitats which containe many internationally important and rare plants and animals. In the spring, migrant birds such as nightingales, cuckoos and warblers arrive on the reserve to breed. In summer, visitors such as oystercatchers and ringed plover nest on Sandwich Bay’s shingle beach. Meanwhile butterflies enjoy the duneland flora and its many rare species such as lizard orchids and Deptford pink. The top attraction is the seal colony just off the shore.
No special equipment is needed but the terrain can be soggy as usual and there is always a slight chance of rain, so waterproof walking boots/wellies and a raincoat may come in handy. Good binoculars, field guides and cameras are also suggested. Dogs are welcome on lead.
There are 20 places available on a first come first serve basis. There is no charge for this event but please contact Robert Goldmann via email RobertGoldmann@earlscliffe.co.uk or send this form to him to Earlscliffe, 29 Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone, CT20 2NB.
