SMTG Review Webinar - "Bridging modelling gaps with the mesoscale" by Dr Michael Seaton, 14.00 on May 1st, 2024

1 May 2024 14:00-15:30, United Kingdom

Introduction
Dr Michael Seaton (STFC) will give a review webinar on mesoscale simulation techniques at 14.00 on Wednesday, 1st May. All are welcome to this free event, but you need to register via the Booking Registration URL Registered participants will also be able to access a recording of the webinar and a copy of the slides.

Abstract: Dr Seaton will provide an overview of mesoscale modelling, focussing on its two most frequently used techniques: Dissipative Particle Dynamics (DPD) and the Lattice Boltzmann Equation (LBE). He will show how each of these modelling methods came about and how they fit in with other methods at different length and time scales. He will demonstrate some of the methods’ applications to materials-based systems of scientific and engineering interest, give an overview of ongoing research efforts to overcome their current limitations, and discuss the directions the methods (and mesoscale modelling in general) are likely to take in future.
