COURSE OVERVIEW
The course will cover current laboratory practices in forensic serology and DNA analysis. The training is highly hands on, and each trainee will learn to; independently conduct presumptive and confirmatory tests for body fluids, Extract, purify and quantify DNA from a variety of biological materials, Perform PCR, handle and maintain various DNA analysis instruments and interpret DNA data. In addition, the trainees will appreciate the value of maintaining chain of custody and presentation of DNA evidence 

OBJECTVES  OF THE TRAINING  
1.Understanding of Serology Testing:
  • Trainees should grasp the principles and techniques of serology analysis. This involves screening evidence for body fluids such as blood, semen, and saliva.
  • They need to comprehend how serology testing impacts other forensic disciplines.
2.Quality Assurance and Safety:
  • Trainees must learn about laboratory protocols for forensic serological methods.
  • Emphasize quality assurance practices, ethical considerations, and safety measures during analysis
3.Hands-On Skills:
Trainees should gain practical experience in:
  • Conducting presumptive and confirmatory tests for body fluids.
  • Extracting, purifying, and quantifying DNA from various biological materials.
  • Performing PCR (polymerase chain reaction).
  • Handling and maintaining DNA analysis instruments.
  • Interpreting DNA data
