Please note, for this upcoming event on Monday 20 May there has been a change to the agenda and speakers
Our afternoon symposium at Burlington House on Monday May 20, 1-5pm, will set the scene for sustainable chemistry, circularity and waste recycling in the UK. Experts from the University of Warwick, BASF and the European trade organisation focused on sustainability in plastic use, Plastic Europe. A panel discussion and Q&A session will explore how a better understanding and more rigorous application of LCA is needed to ensure new chemicals and new chemistry are genuinely fit for the future.
The speakers are:
Dr Stuart Coles – University of Warwick – Principles of LCA applied to the commercialisation of plastic recycling.
Tony Heslop – European Head of Sustainability at BASF – an industry perspective
Dr Geoff Mackey - Country Head Plastics Europe - Policy and regulatory review
The speakers will be joined in a panel discussion by Dr Mike Muskett – Tranby Technology – Expert in chemical process design, economics and operations.
The meeting will be useful to those who to understand LCA, to those developing new chemistries and to those non-experts who want to make their own assessments of whether the marketing claims are truly sustainable or just greenwashing.
There will be a small charge for this event to offset partially the cost of the meeting’s refreshments.
