Introduction
A coach will pick-up opposite the King's Head on the Havant Road (A 259) at 08:30 and at the University of Southampton Highfield Campus bus terminal at 09:00.  We then travel to the Red Funnel ferry terminal at Southampton and take the ferry across to the Isle of Wight.  We expect to arrive at Carisbrooke Castle by 12 noon.  We then visit the museum at the castle and hear a talk from our member Nick Minns on the work of Sir John Milne.  We will be able to see a working seismograph and other museum exhibits including King Charles I bedroom used while he was detained at the castle. Then there will be free time to visit the rest of the castle, get lunch (a pub lunch is available locally) we recommend a packed lunch.  We will leave the castle by 15:00 and should be back in Southampton by 17:00 and  Emsworth by 18:00.
