The 2012 Spring Meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) and exhibit will be held at the Palais des Congrès in Strasbourg from May 14th-18th. This meeting will mark the 30th Spring conference since the foundation of E-MRS, in 1983, and will consist of 25 parallel symposia. The major themes of the conference will be "Materials for Energy”, "Bio / Organic / Polymeric Materials”, "Materials for Electronic / Photonic / Plasmonic Applications, "Advanced Materials and Nano Materials” and "Methods and Analysis”.
The plenary session will feature three outstanding speakers: Professor Naomi Halas (Rice University, USA), Professor George Malliaras (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint Etienne, France), Professor Luisa De Cola (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Germany) and a presentation by the Laureate of the EU-40 Materials Prize. Complementary to the Graduate Students Awards, the EU-40 Materials Prize is reserved to researchers under 40 with exceptional promise for leadership and with outstanding and innovative contributions to materials science while working in Europe.
The scientific programme will highlight the latest advances in international materials research and key novel applications. The conference will be enriched by an industrial exhibition and a series of satellite events to enhance our scientific curiosity for the wonderful and exciting world of functional materials and their applications.
The main satellite events are the Nature Materials / E-MRS one day workshop devoted to "Frontiers in Materials: Spintronics”, the ACS Nano Lectureship Award, and the Young Scientist Tutorial on "Characterization Techniques for Thin-Film Solar Cells”. Moreover, a special workshop devoted to oxide electronics will be also organized by Wiley.
In summary, the E-MRS 2012 Spring Meeting will include many international high level scientific events in one place. I predict this to be one the largest and most exciting E-MRS Conference ever held in Strasbourg. Don't miss it, we count on you and look forward to your active contributions and participation.
