In general, palladium (II) based catalysts have been well known for C-H activation reactions. However, the use of expensive and not readily accessible Pd catalysts, lack of specificity and requirement of specialized ligands often complicates the process of pharmacological application of these compounds.
The talk will focus on newly discovered water friendly ruthenium metal catalysts developed by scientists at Chicago Discovery Solutions such as ruthenium formato catalyst MCAT-53TM. Due to water friendliness and cheaper cost, MCAT-53 is suitable for the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Examples of its use in the preparation of drug intermediates will be provided.
