The use of “Herbal and Complementary Medicine” (HCM) has a longstanding tradition and has become especially famous through its use in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). However, the use of HCM has also seeing a growing interest in Western Medicine, often to compliment modern medicine approaches. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the herbal products used are of the highest quality, and safe for the patient to consume. This talk will explore the quality assessment of herbal and complementary medicine in the UK and the EU, and will provide some insight into the challenges and opportunities in this area..
