An evening of gin tasting and discussion about the history of gin, methods of making gins and some of the background science, will be held on Thursday 7th July at the University of Southampton, including a talk entitled: “A distillation of gin science” by Professor Andy Whiting and Dr Kevin Flower from pHure Liquors. The talk with interspersed with tasting sessions, using gins that will exemplify the some of the discussion points in the talk, covering areas such as the impact of modern production methods, different gin styles, the effect of adding tonic and new directions, including fruit flavoured gins.
