Welcome to the latest RSC Desktop Seminar, sponsored by Digital Discovery to celebrate the publication of the journal’s first issue.

Join authors Yuya Oaki and Evgeny A. Pidko, and Editorial Board Member Ekaterina V. Skorb as they present their latest research. This 90-minute seminar will allow researchers of all professional levels to connect and share ideas and ask questions.

Speakers
Yuya Oaki, Keio University, Japan

Yuya Oaki is an Associate Professor of Department of Applied 91AV, Keio University, Japan. He received his Ph. D. in 2006 from Keio University. His research interest is layered materials, 2D materials, and conjugated polymers for their energy and sensing applications. He has studied data-driven approach for small data, such as experimental and literature data, since he was a project member of materials informatics (JST PRESTO, 2016–2020). He was awarded The Chemical Society of Japan Award For Young Chemists and The Young Scientists’ Prize of The Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology


Ekaterina V. Skorb, ITMO University, Russian Federation

Ekaterina Skorb obtained her PhD in physical chemistry. She was a postdoc and Alexander-von-Humboldt fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (MPIKG, Germany) with Prof. Helmuth Möhwald. From 2013 she worked with Prof. Peter Fratzl (MPIKG) as a group leader. She was a visiting scholar at Harvard (USA) in Prof. George Whitesides’ group from 2016 to 2017. Since 2017 she has worked at ITMO University, Saint Petersberg, Russia where she is now a Full Professor and Director of the Infochemistry Scientific Center (ISC).


Evgeny A. Pidko, Delft University of Technology, Netherlands

Evgeny Pidko studied chemistry at the Higher Chemical College of the Russian Academy of Science, Moscow (Russia) and obtained his PhD in computational chemistry and catalysis in 2008 with Rutger van Santen at Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands), where in 2011-2017, he was an Assistant Professor of Catalysis for Sustainability. He joined the Chemical Engenering department of Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) as an associate professor in 2017, where in 2020 he became a full professor and chair of Inorganic Systems Engineering. His research aims at understanding and development of catalytic systems for sustainable chemical processes including experimental and computational studies of the mechanisms and property-activity relationships in organometallic and molecular heterogeneous catalysis.
