Scientific research can be a carbon-intensive pursuit, with laboratories often being responsible for an outsize contribution to energy usage in universities and other settings. Reducing the emissions of our day-to-day laboratory practice is a first step that scientists can take in reducing their overall environmental footprint, and one which can involve surprisingly simple actions. This panel discussion will bring together experts from academia and industry to explain some of the steps that organisations and individuals working in science can take to reduce their environmental impact, and identify some of the big challenges that remain in bringing down emissions in the sector.
