Webinar - Wastewater Based Epidemiology

9 September 2021 18:00-20:00, United Kingdom

Introduction
As the current pandemic has clearly demonstrated, infectious diseases can provide extremely serious challenges to global public health. As a consequence the ability to rapidly monitor the spread of infectious diseases is centrally important for prevention, intervention and control. One proposed monitoring  scheme that has emerged in recent years, and which is seen as an increasingly important tool, is Wastewater-Based Epidemiology (WBE).   Essentially WBE suggests that through the analysis of population aggregated wastewater, infectious disease and the emergence of new disease outbreaks can be monitored comprehensively and in real-time. The aim of this webinar is twofold: to provide an overview of WBE and its recent developments; and to provide a case study of WBE use in the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speakers: Prof Barbara Kasprzyk-Hordern, University of Bath and
