The Meeting will gather from 11-00am with coffee, tea & biscuits served in the Library. Stephen Gay’s illustrated talk "Woodhead - The Lost Railway" will begin at 12 noon.
Stephen as a former employee on this route gives an intriguing insight into the demise of a thriving community rail route despite having a new dual track tunnel for full electrification and the shortest route between Sheffield & Manchester it fell prey to the political battle between the new emerging motorways & railways overseen by ICI’s Dr Beeching.
The talk will be followed by a bespoke Wortley Hall Buffet Lunch at 1-30pm served in the Library.
For those attendees wishing to balance food and exercise, a post-meal garden walk is their optional choice.
