Northwest Analytical Division and Manchester Local Section Annual Christmas Lecture

26 November 2019 18:00-21:30, Manchester, United Kingdom

Introduction
E-Cigarettes: Blessing or time bomb?

Following deaths in the USA coupled with an upsurge of pulmonary disease, vaping is being banned in a number of countries and US States. In the UK it is still viewed as the panacea to reduce the smoking of tobacco products. However, it is becoming increasingly clear that substances using in e-liquids are contributing to pulmonary disease. Isn’t it now time to question the safety of vaping in the UK?

Join NWAD and Manchester LSM with our guest speaker David Bains to discuss the future of e-cigarettes in our society.

About David: Prior to setting up his food consultancy David Bains spent 25 years working in the food industry, latterly as Technical Director of Lucas ingredients and before that Spillers Foods and Unilever as a flavour scientist developing flavours for humans, pet animals and farm animals. Author of several papers and book chapters, editor of the book “Natural Food Additives, Ingredients and Flavourings” and the inventor of a number of patented technologies. Member of the Technical Committee of the UK Flavour Association, Chairman of Western Branch of the IFST and Visiting Professor in the School of 91AV, Food and Pharmacy at the University of Reading.
