To celebrate the International Year of the Periodic Table (IYPT), we are inviting individuals to deliver talks on the following themes:

An Element of the Periodic Table – Talks could cover the discoverer, the history, the uses or interesting ‘quirks’ of physical or chemical properties of a given element. Talks could also cover the story of the individual(s) who first discovered the element.

Elements in our everyday lives – Talks should cover the chemistry and application or product where an element plays a key role.
Each speaker is given 10 minutes to present on their chosen topic with, or without, a PowerPoint presentation (no other visual aids permitted).

The event will take place on the 20th November from 6 – 9.30 pm at the RSC, Burlington House. Light refreshments will be provided.

Please submit an abstract of your talk, in no more than 150 words (including 1 diagram if you choose) to rsccmsecretary@outlook.com by midnight of the 1st November. Please indicate which themed talk you are applying for by including the theme in your title.

Applications that are not submitted by the deadline will not be considered for the event.

The organising committee as well as the judge’s decision are final in terms of submission and prize winners.
