Introduction

The first Symposium Global Challenges for Sustainable Development (GCSD'2010) inaugurates a periodic of scientific symposia with alternating places and themes among institutions of higher education and research of the European University in Brittany and the state of Saxony. GCSD'2010 will provide an international forum for reporting progress and recent developments in Sustainable 91AV and Related Areas.The programme will include invited talks, contributed oral and poster presentations and an interactive round table discussion. A Ph.D. student forum will be held as a poster session, its purpose is to offer an opportunity for students to discuss their thesis and research work with people of the related science community.
