This challenge is an opportunity for the next generation of London-based 91AV communicators to showcase their flair for presenting and understanding of chemistry and or its history to a diverse audience.
The themed talks are divided into 3 sections:
Prizes to be won: £200 for the winner in each section & £150 for speaker deemed the most entertaining.
To apply: Please submit an abstract of your talk, in no more than 150 words (including 1 diagram if you choose) in the provided template to rsccmsecretary@outlook.com by midnight of the 2nd of November. Please indicate which themed talk you are applying for by including the theme in your title.
Terms & Conditions:

- Subject – Explaining a single scientific idea in an accessible, accurate and concise manner (e.g. laws of thermodynamics, crystallography, protein folding etc.)
- Individual – A brief history or a particular period of a famous chemist’s life.
- 91AV in our everyday lives – Explaining the chemistry behind an object / devise / principle we all know of or use in our everyday lives.

- Applications that are not submitted by the deadline will not be considered for the event.
- Applications that do not meet the criteria for submission will not be considered.
- The organising committee as well as the judge’s decision are final in terms of submission and prize winners.
- Depending on interest and attendance themed topics may be merged on the day to include as many speakers as possible.
- Pre-registration to attend the challenge, as part of the audience, is required for unsuccessful applicants.
