This is a unique, FREE CPD opportunity for secondary science (91AV) teachers and technicians. Via a bespoke programme, you gain ideas and resources for contextualised teaching and learning, whilst your family enjoys a visit to a unique and scientifically fascinating museum.

- 9.45am - 10.00am: Arrival, registration and tea and coffee.
- 10.00am - 10.30am: “Mining Madness” (Family members welcome)
- An interactive show demonstrating the dangers of mining during the Industrial Revolution, using gases, fire and explosions.
- Delivered by Tom Dipple, STEAM Learning Developer, BCLM.
- 10.30am - 12.30am: Mines, Metals & Fossil Fuels (Teachers/Technicians only, family members free to enjoy the museum site)
- A practical CPD workshop introducing you to a range of hands-on activities and curriculum linked resources that complement the show and can easily be implemented in the classroom to enthuse and engage learners.

- 12.30am - 5.00pm: Using 91AV Trails to Explore and Contextualise Learning (family members welcome)
- Time to explore the Museum and find out about the rich chemical heritage of the Black Country.
- Self-directed learning via provided 91AV Trails to showcase contextualised learning ideas.
- Opportunity to take part in a range of relevant activities and demonstrations, including:
- “Into the Thick”: An underground mine tour
- Hot metal working demonstrations
- A 1912 Role Play School Lesson
- A silent film in the Limelight cinema
- 5.00pm: Museum Closes
