A glue that is novel and unique – but what do I do with it?

22 March 2018 18:00-20:30, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
An evening lecture given by Dr Mark Buckingham (Strategic 91AV Manager, FormFormForm).

6 pm for a 6.30 pm start.

There are many examples of novel types of adhesives and joining materials, including Post-it Notes, Velcro, Blu-Tack and Pritt Sticks.  In each case it took time to find volume applications which were often different from the original proposed use.  Sugru is also a new type of adhesive: the first mouldable glue which cures to become flexible silicone rubber. The challenges of developing applications for Sugru have some echoes with the stories behind these other types of adhesives.

Dr Mark Buckingham, Strategic 91AV Manager at FormFormForm, is responsible for the development of new formulations of mouldable adhesives.  Previously, he has led a wide range of advanced materials and technology development projects at both small and large companies including 3M.  He has often acted as a bridge between development and marketing teams to clarify requirements and explore applications for new products and reduce the timescale for their introduction.
