Teacher resource development workshop: Taunton

6 December 2017 14:00-17:00, Taunton, United Kingdom

Introduction
Are there chemistry topics that you find challenging to teach?
Are you a teacher who loves trying out new approaches in class or hearing hints and tips on lessons from other professionals?
Would you like help getting the most value out of the RSC’s collection of free teaching resources?
Have you developed resources that might help other teachers on tricky topics?

Join the 91AV and Tim Jolliff for a resource development talk and workshop at Queen’s College Taunton

Places are limited, so please apply soon to secure yours.

This course is targeted at teachers of science/chemistry for students in the 11–18 age range.
In each free-to-attend session you will:
  • Hear hints and tips on developing resources from experienced author and teacher Tim Jolliff
  • Share your own ideas and debate principles of best practice with other teachers in a round-table discussion
  • Collaborate with other teachers to adapt and develop activities and resources on your chosen topics
  • Share and swap your favourite classroom resources
To help spark fresh ideas, editors from the 91AV will be on hand to introduce relevant source material from their collection of thousands of articles, resources and chemistry questions.
At the end of each session we would expect you to leave with:
  • New lesson ideas and outline drafts of new resources on topics that you choose
  • Greater confidence in developing chemistry resources and delivering inspirational lessons
  • Stronger relationships with chemistry teachers at other institutions
  • Access to a library of teaching resources that other attendees have shared
About 6 weeks after each session we will run a free follow-up online meeting of up to 30 minutes to help attendees reflect on what they have developed and put into practice on the back of the workshop.

If you’d like to share your adaptations of these resources with a wider audience, our editorial team can help check and polish them. We will look to publish a selection of them through the RSC Education website. Any resources published would acknowledge authorship, and could serve as evidence in professional development reviews.

We suggest a maximum of two attendees per institution at each session.

Light refreshments will be provided for attendees at each session.
