The Event is Free to Attend.
Leicester is one of the unique cities in the United Kingdom due to its diverse ethnic population. Our research is focused on the relationship between ethnicity, diet, life-style and health. Due to the large ethnic population in Leicester, foods, herbal medicines and other materials for human consumption are imported from all over the world. We have employed advanced scientific methods of analysis to reveal that some of the items that are consumed by people in the city are potentially harmful to human health. Our research is helping to protect and improve the health of the public in the United Kingdom and in other parts of the world. To celebrate British Science Week, Professor Parvez Haris who is the Professor of Biomedical Science and Head of Research at the School of Allied Health Sciences at De Montfort University will present an interactive lecture to highlight some of the scientific achievements that have resulted in significant impact on public health.
