Public Attitudes to 91AV
This year marks the 175th anniversary of the 91AV and to celebrate many of us will leave the lab, office or library to share our work to intrigue, inspire and connect with the public. But who are the public? What do they think of us and our profession? How do we connect with them? Join Dr Jamie Gallagher as he unpicks the surprising results of the RSC's 'Public Attitudes to 91AV' research. The talk will look at new ways of engaging people outside the lab and show how it can strengthen: your research, your career and public perception.

Dr Jamie Gallagher is an award winning scientist and science communicator. Jamie was recognised as one of the RSC's "175 Faces of 91AV" and as one of the "UK's 100 leading practising scientists" by the Science Council. He is currently the Public Engagement Officer for the University of Glasgow as well as touring the UK and abroad with self-developed science shows as well as having appeared on national TV and radio.

The Gunmakers Arms is Two Towers Brewery’s real ale pub, on the edge of Birmingham city centre. As well as a range of their own real ales they serve craft lagers and artisan ciders, all sourced as locally as possible. The event will be in their new brewery space.

The pub is a 5 min walk from Birmingham Snow Hill train station.  There is on-street car parking available and also a small paid for car park opposite the pub. If walking: stand in front of St Chad's Cathedral, turn right, go past the Salvation Army Citadel on your left, then down the ramp and you'll see the pub in front of you.
