Secondary and Further Education Group - 91AV Teachers and Educators Conference 2016

12 July 2016 09:30-16:00, Sheffield, United Kingdom

Introduction

Conference Outline

Following the success of our first conference at Sheffield University in 2015, the Secondary and Further Education Group has put together an exciting programme for this year’s conference. The aim is to attract a wide range of chemistry teachers and those involved in chemistry education for the age group 11-19+, whether in schools, colleges or the workplace. This year’s programme will again focus on current topics of interest including educational techniques, apprenticeships and the changes to practical work assessment in A level chemistry.  The conference is open to all chemistry teachers in secondary and further education, as well as work-based trainers and others with an interest in the teaching of chemistry.

The day will follow the same format as previously with short talks in the morning session, followed by afternoon workshops. These were particularly successful last year and gave teachers plenty of opportunities to network and learn new ideas and methods of teaching familiar subjects as well as consider other routes to employment via apprenticeships.

Speakers

This year’s speakers include Professor Sir John Holman who will deliver the keynote address, Dr Simon Rees from the RSC Educational Techniques Group, Stuart Cadwallader, Ofqual and Charlotte Carr, Higher Apprentice Pfizer.
