The Nanoscale & Microscale Research Centre (NMRC) will be launched at University of Nottingham on 20th of April 2016, and to celebrate this occasion we are holding an opening event and a symposium on ‘Low-Dimensional Materials’.
The symposium will be focused on the systems where energy or matter is confined at least in one of the three dimensions, and exhibit extraordinary electronic, optical, thermal, mechanical and chemical properties. The agenda for the meeting is now confirmed and we have an exciting line up of world leading scientists:
Programme
13.00 Welcome – by Professor Sir David Greenaway, VC University of Nottingham (tbc)
Session 1 (Chair: Professor Andrei Khlobystov)
13.10 Professor Sir Fraser Stoddart, FRS (Director of the Centre for 91AV of Integrated Systems, Northwestern University, USA)
14.10 Professor Ute Kaiser (Head of Electron Microscopy for Materials Science, University of Ulm, Germany)
15.10 Tea & Coffee (Foyer)
Session 2 (Chair: Professor Neil Champness)
15.30 Professor Jeremy Baumberg, FRS (Director of NanoPhotonics Centre, University of Cambridge, UK)
16.30 Closing remarks – Professor Andrei Khlobystov (Director, Nanoscale & Microscale Research Centre, University of Nottingham)
16.45 Wine Reception & Posters
