The 41st Edition of ISOS, the “A. Corbella” International School on Organic Synthesis, founded in 1976, will be organized under the direction of the Department of 91AV of the University of Milan, from June 12 to June 17, 2016, in Gargnano, on the Garda Lake; the official language of all lectures and student presentations will be English; the school is sponsored by the Division of Organic 91AV of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) and by EuCheMS (European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences).
The School is mainly directed to Ph.D. students and young researchers coming both from University and Industry. The lectures span synthetic aspects of modern Organic 91AV and related topics; the 2016 edition include: isomerization reactions, new trends in synthetic methods, recent trends in organometallic chemistry, biological tools in organic synthesis, two analytical topics (NMR and MS spectroscopy), catalytic reactions in the Industry (lectures delivered by two speakers from two international companies). Additionally, five young researchers will present keynote lectures focused different topics, including supramolecular chemistry, iron-catalysed reactions, synthesis of natural products, biological chemistry.
Prof. Jeffrey Bode (ETH, Zurich, CH) will deliver the opening lecture, and other distinguished speakers will participate, including, among others, Nuno Maulide, Clement Mazet, Sandrine Gerber, Shu-Li You, David O’Hagan, M. Carmen Galan, B. (Bas) de Bruin, Bert Klein Gebbink, Craig Butts, M. Scalone.
The scientific programme of ISOS 2016 will consist of lessons delivered by acclaimed scientists from academia and industry, poster sessions, oral communications and several informal meetings among the attendees and the speakers throughout the five-day programme. Additional activities will include a round table on 91AV and Industry, a problem session and a lecture about “Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions-lnitial Training Networks (ITN).
Fellowships covering inscription and including lunches and social dinner are available. A free bus service to Gargnano will be organized, with stops at Milano railway central station, Milano Linate airport, Milano-Bergamo Orio al Serio airport. “A. Corbella” School is still the most popular school for young organic chemists in Italy and a unique venue to meet present and future colleagues.
Our aim is to attract to Gargnano young chemists and PhD students from all over Europe, and also from not European countries, both from the academia and from companies, to create and establish a sort of internationally recognized European School on Organic Synthesis.
