The RSC-Radiochemistry Group Committee are pleased to announce a one-day seminar “Reference Materials in Support of Radiochemical Analysis – Current Practice and Future Needs”.
This one-day seminar will present current practice with regard to the preparation and use of reference materials within the industry both in the UK and abroad, with speakers from across Europe, embracing both Environmental and Nuclear Industry arenas. The meeting objective is to discuss future industry requirements and how best this can be achieved. Is a national programme required?
This seminar will be held on the 12th November at the National Physical Laboratory, Teddington, London as part of the UK National Conference on Applied Radiation Metrology, 10-12th November 2015, organised by the National Physical Laboratory.
The UK National Conference on Applied Metrology (CARM15) is a new national conference intended to bring together all those with an interest in the field, from organisations that fund the work (NDA, STFC, DECC, BIS and the supply chain) to regulators (EA, SEPA, ONR) and the scientists and engineers who work in the industry (radiochemists, health physicists, researchers, project managers) to report and share best practice. The UK nuclear industry faces the challenge of decommissioning legacy nuclear sites at the same time as the construction of new plants looks increasingly likely and the science of radiation metrology has a key role to play in site characterization, waste clearance, environmental monitoring and radiation protection in this expanding industry.
