A one-day symposium at which PhD students and PDRAs from across Scotland and the North of England can meet with their peers and present the results of their research in any field related to electrochemistry. Both oral and poster presentation slots will be available, but oral presentations are aimed at PhD students who might otherwise not get the opportunity to speak during their PhD studies. There will also be a keynote lecture at the end of the symposium by an academic of high standing in the field. This year, we are delighted to announce that the keynote lecture will be given by Prof. John Irvine of the University of St. Andrews.
The symposium is free to attend for all, thanks to the generosity of the RSC Electrochemistry Interest Group, the Scottish RSC local sections and our industrial sponsors. Lunch will be provided, also free of charge. To submit an oral or poster abstract, please complete the attached template and email this as a single-page word document to Dr. Mark Symes (mark.symes@glasgow.ac.uk) by the dates indicated, specifying which type of presentation is preferred. Please also register online through the "Book Now" link at the top of this page by 13th April 2016 so that we can cater accordingly. We hope to award a prize to the best PhD speaker.
Update on 20th April: We are delighted to announce that the best PhD speaker prize has been won by Victoria Camus of the University of Edinburgh for her talk entitled "Monitoring Changes in Intracellular Redox Potential and pH in a Prostate Cancer Model System". Victoria wins an all-included trip to Electrochem2016 in Leicester! Two prizes were also awarded for the best posters. These were won by Declan Bryans (University of Strathclyde) for his poster "Characterisation of the hybrid ZnBr2 flow battery" and Andrew Piper (University of Edinburgh) for his poster "A Fundamental Study of Microsquare Nanoband Edge Electrodes (MNEE) and Their Use in Biosensing". Declan and Andrew both win an electrochemistry textbook. Check out the photos of our winners being congratulated by John Irvine in the "Prize winners" attachment!
Congratulations to our winners and many thanks to all those who contributed to this successful meeting.
