The purpose of the meeting was to bring together for the first time researchers from chemistry, physics and materials science, working on various aspects of bi- and multimetallic nanoalloys - ranging from theory and computation, to synthesis, measurement of optical, electronic and magnetic properties, and studies of structures, reactivity and catalysis.
Other aims of the meeting, were to get researchers working in very different fields to understand each others interests, concerns and language and to identify problems and future research directions.
The discussion attracted 72 participants, including 39 from the UK and Ireland, 26 from mainland Europe and 5 from the USA. In all, 15 different nationalities were represented and 14 students attended.
