Next steps for improving cardiovascular disease outcomes

Attendees at this seminar will consider progress on implementing the Government's Cardiovascular Disease Outcomes Strategy, and next steps for service delivery.

Discussion will be informed by NICE guidelines which recommend that GPs should start statin treatment for patients with a 10% risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Further sessions focus on delivering integrated care, management of acute cardiovascular conditions, and the role of Clinical Commissioning Groups, local authorities and Public Health England in raising awareness and increasing prevention.

We are delighted to include at this seminar keynote addresses from Professor Mark Baker, Director of Clinical Practice, NICE; Professor Huon Gray, National Clinical Director for Heart Disease, NHS England; Professor Peter Weissberg, Medical Director, British Heart Foundation; Helen Williams, Consultant Pharmacist for CV Disease, South London, NHS Southwark Clinical Commissioning Group and a senior speaker confirmed from AstraZeneca.

Dr James Beattie, Trustee, The National Council for Palliative Care and Heart Failure Lead, Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust; Paul Corris, Chair, Clinical Reference Group for Pulmonary Hypertension and Professor of Thoracic Medicine, Newcastle University; Professor Azhar Farooqi, Co-Chair, NHS Leicester City Clinical Commissioning Group; Robin Ireland, Chief Executive, Health Equalities Group; Trudie Lobban, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Arrhythmia Alliance and Dr Matt Kearney, National Clinical Advisor, NHS England and Public Health England have also agreed to speak.
