FDA's Pet Food Labeling Guidelines

Introduction
This webinar will discuss the legal requirements for labeling pet or animal food. It will cover aspects of labeling such as the product name, the guaranteed analysis, the nutritional adequacy statement, feeding directions, and calorie statements.

Why Should You Attend:
Pet owners and veterinary professionals have a right to know what they are feeding their animals. The pet food label contains a wealth of information, if one knows how to read it. Food processors and food manufacturers have the responsibility to ensure that pet food is produced in compliance with FDA regulations. The FDA in turn has the responsibility to ensure that pet foods, in addition to foods produced for human consumption, meet these guidelines for industry.
This session is designed primarily for pet food manufacturers and labelers, and is focused on helping you clearly understand what is expected by the FDA so that pet food manufacturers and processors are in compliance with these regulations. This session will cover the requirements of the FDA Department of Animal and Veterinary Guidelines for Industry.

Kristina Lauzon

Kristina Lauzon is a certified chef and nutrition manager. Her areas of expertise include: clinical nutrition, nutrition education, food technology and food manufacturing, HACCP, GMPs, quality assurance, and food production. Ms. Lauzon has experience working in the healthcare, hospitality and food processing industries. Before becoming a nutrition manager in Canada, she worked as a food production manager at a privately owned food processing facility in Ontario. Ms. Lauzon is currently completing a course to be a registered dietary technician.
