Everybody knows about newspapers from their everyday lives. Most people also know that these are made in the UK from 100% recycled material, but how? You can learn how paper is made during a visit to Palm Paper Ltd. in King's Lynn, the UKs biggest and newest machine for producing Newsprint Paper. First we will follow the process from waste paper to clean fibre material for the paper machine. Afterwards you will see how the largest machine for newsprint paper in Europe can produce a sheet out of these fibres. After a short break we will then show you how, in our laboratory, ink is removed from the paper fibres in the de-inking process and then you will make a new sheet by hand. Before going home we will give you the chance to see how our Effluent Treatment plant cleans the water used in the process.
