My high school chemistry teacher was incredibly engaging, and I thoroughly enjoyed the classes. This enjoyment never waned.
Dr Chilton's research aims to understand the magnetic and optical properties of molecules. Studying how molecular structure leads to certain physical properties is vital to develop designs for new molecules with improved function. His group is particularly interested in determining how to make data storage with molecules possible, how to process quantum information with molecules, and how to improve the efficiency of molecular imaging agents, such as those used in magnetic resonance imaging or in light emitting applications.
