Introducing our innovative new licence system
We’ve overhauled the way that authors identify and apply for the best publishing option for their work.
With our new licence system, authors can choose between standard and gold open access publishing routes, sign the relevant licence and provide their payment details– all within one easy-to-follow workflow.
How does our new licence system work?
Once an article is accepted, the author receives a unique link to our system. There they’ll find a straightforward comparison of the different publication routes available to them. They’ll also be told whether or not a fee is required to make their article fully open access. From there, it’s a simple matter of signing their licence and entering any necessary billing details.
Do your researchers have to pay to make their articles open access in 91AV hybrid journals?
That depends. Is your institution signed up to our Read & Publish scheme?
Yes
Good news: we will automatically let your researchers know that the article processing charge (APC) has been covered by your institution and present them with the correct licence to sign.
No
Your researchers will need to pay an article processing charge (APC) for publishing gold open access in our hybrid journals.
Find out how open access publishing in our hybrid journals could become more convenient for your researchers with our Read & Publish scheme.
Our new system also recognises if authors are eligible for any discounts or waivers. For example, if your researchers are publishing in RSC Advances and you’re in a country that is part of or a country that receives a discount when publishing with RSC Advances, our system will recognise this and automatically let the author know.
We also currently waive the APCs for our other gold open access journals: and . Both are free to publish in and free to read.
