Open to scientists, university staff, students, and professionals from all disciplines, this event centres on three key themes: Access, Representation and Inclusion, and Structural and Policy Change. Designed to foster a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, it features coffee and opportunities for meaningful connections, encouraging open dialogue and fresh perspectives.
The programme begins with a Awareness Walk—a reflective activity that highlights the diverse challenges individuals face in science, promoting empathy and understanding. Participants will then engage in small group discussions over coffee, collaboratively exploring practical solutions to equity issues. Key ideas will be captured on vibrant Post-it notes and displayed to inspire shared insights and future collaboration.
Dr Britta Stordal, Associate Professor in Cancer Research and Deputy Dean of Research and Knowledge Exchange, who is in the University's Athena Swan Charter Team, will conclude the event with a brief presentation, showcasing institutional efforts to advance gender equality in science.
