UPDATE 28-07-2023: PLEASE NOTE: Registration for this event has been changed to the 6th August. The event requires at least 20 people in order to go ahead, and we are currently waiting for 12 more people to register to meet this goal. If we do not get to 20 people before the 6th of August, this event will be cancelled.
The next MSCLS event is a trip to Hinkley Point C nuclear power station (under construction) on Thursday 17 August.
Hinkley Point C nuclear power station is a two-unit, 3,200 MWe EPR nuclear power station under construction in Somerset, England. The site was one of eight announced by the British government in 2010, and in November 2012 a nuclear site licence was granted.
We will be organizing a coach (picking up from Southampton area, Emsworth area and other locations in the local section on the way) to take visitors to the Visitor Centre at Cannington from where we will transfer to the site bus for the visit to Hinkley Point C.
This event is for a maximum of 30 people. A minimum of 20 people will be required in order for the event to go ahead.

- On the day of the visit ALL visitors (aged 18 years and above) are required to produce valid photographic ID, either a current Passport or photo Driving Licence card. If either of the above forms of ID are not available, access to HPC Site will be denied.
- Sensible footwear must be worn on Site.
- Bags and personal belongings must be kept to a minimum.
- It is not permitted to use cameras and mobile telephones on HPC Site. Other prohibited items include radio transmitters, animals, weapons, knives, explosives of any kind, personal radios, and music players.
- Before your visit and whilst at the Park and Ride, your tour guides will verify the group’s ID, issue passes followed by a Welcome brief to include security checks. You will then be transported to Hinkley Point Visitor Centre, at Cannington Court, to familiarize yourselves with the Project before heading to HPC Site to begin your tour.
