2012 AGM will be hosted inside Cromford Mill, the World's first successful water powered cotton spinning mill, and now an amazing World Heritage Site.
This 1771 mill was built by Richard Arkwright in the Derwent Valley. He perfected his Water Frame here, and launched the very first "factory system” to Britain and the World, the very start of the textile industry. The site is credited with kicking off and rapidly accelerating the Industrial Revolution within a few short hectic years.
The evening starts with buffet, a short AGM followed by a short talk and guided tour of the Mill. If the weather permits, members will be able to relax at the wharf café on the Cromford Canal.
