On 3 May 2019 RSSL's Barbara Hirst will host a webinar on regulatory changes.
Recent tragic deaths in the media have highlighted the risks that allergic consumers face when eating away from home. The specific case of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse has prompted Defra and the FSA to consider introducing some changes to how allergen information is provided, specifically for foods pre-packed for direct sale (PPDS). A consultation exercise has been set up to gather opinion on what those changes might be. Clearly, there will be implications for food business operators (FBOs) depending on which options are adopted.
They have proposed four different options and put these out for consultation, and responses from industry are required by the 29th March 2019. We do not yet know which (if any) of the proposed changes will be chosen and implemented, however we can make some assessments of the likely impacts of each.
Topics that will be covered include:
• Definition of PPDS – what is in and out of scope?
• What are the proposed options?
• The implications for Food Business Operators of each option
• The bigger picture – are the proposed changes going far enough?
Register now to attend this webinar. We look forward to seeing you there!
