Catalytic Sustainability in the Future

13 February 2015, Manchester, United Kingdom

Introduction
Dial-a-Molecule is an EPSRC funded Grand Challenge Network with the aim:

“In 20-40 years, scientists will be able to deliver any desired molecule, within a timeframe useful to the end-user, using safe, economically viable and sustainable processes.”

Catalysis is central to any efforts to address the Grand Challenge, however many of the catalytic systems required for fine chemical synthesis rely upon precious metals which are nearing depletion. The issue of sustainability surrounding these catalysts presents both a key challenge and an opportunity for the development of modern catalysts.

The aim of this meeting is to bring together researchers to discuss catalytic sustainability in Chemical Sciences from several complementary perspectives:

Development of Non-Precious Metal Catalysts
Optimisation of Catalytic Precious Metal Systems
Elucidation of Catalytic Pathways

In addition to keynote presentations around these themes, there will be a flash poster session and the opportunity to meet with experts in the field from both Academia and Industry.
