THIS EVENT IS FULLY BOOKED
Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron facility – a giant machine capable of generating beams of light billions of times brighter than the sun. These beams allow us to look inside materials at the atomic scale, giving us information on the chemistry of materials which is impossible to obtain in a normal lab. Diamond has been used to create a new vaccine against foot-and-mouth disease, preserve the Mary Rose, help create new materials for storing energy and many more besides. This visit is aimed at A-level chemistry students who would like to see a working facility which allows us to understand the atomic world, and brings together biology, chemistry and physics under one roof.
